Although he progressed into the Sale Sharks academy, Teddy Leatherbarrow began his rugby career with Knutsford Rugby Club at the age of seven.
Since those early years at Knutsford and then Lymm RFC, Teddy has developed into an openside flanker, taking inspiration from Richie McCaw and latterly Sam Underhill along the way.
One of his career highlights was reaching the U18s Premiership Final in 2017 with Sale, losing 20-8 to Harlequins but Teddy has enjoyed trophy success, most notably for his school, Kirkham Grammar, where he won the Brecon 7s and North of England 7s.
At international level, before winning a call-up to the England U18s squad in early 2018, he captained Scotland at U16 level.
