Taufa is a young Halfback out of Sacred Heart College and the Sacred Heart production line.
In his first year out of Sacred Heart College in Auckland, Funaki has been elevated to the New Zealand Under 20 squad.
The dynamic halfback caught the attention of the rugby public with his physical style of play including a strong running game.
He was a member of the New Zealand Schools team in 2017 and 2018, and was later selected as part of the 2018 New Zealand Under 20s side along with his new team-mates Zarn Sullivan, Soane Vikena and Jacob Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens.
A proud East Aucklander, Taufa joined the Blues on the back of two years in the Auckland NPC set up.
