De Wit made his debut for the Golden Lions in the 2012 Vodacom Cup competition, coming on as a second-half substitute in the Golden Lions' 23–16 loss to the Leopards in Potchefstroom.
He was included in the Lions' squad for the 2015 Super Rugby season but failed to make any appearances in the competition.
However, de Wit featured in all twelve of the Golden Lions' matches in the 2015 Currie Cup Premier Division.
He enters the 2017 season with 4 Super Rugby caps since his debut in 2014.
de Wit struggled with injuries during his first season at the Stormers and only made one appearance in the 2018 Super Rugby.
He returned to full fitness for the Currie Cup where he helped Western Province win yet another title.
