Education played a crucial role in Lewis's journey. He attended Woodroffe School in Lyme Regis, Dorset, before pursuing Sports Performance studies at Exeter College in Devon. It was during this time that he focused on his rugby development and honed his skills.

Lewis's dedication to his craft led him to play on dual-registered terms with National League One side Plymouth Albion and RFU Championship side, the Cornish Pirates.
