A late bloomer, Leva Fifita only started his professional career at age 26.
The older brother of All Black Vaea Fifita, Leva is a similar player to his brother with an uncompromising approach to the game from second row and the blindside of the scrum.
He represented New Zealand side Waikato in the Mitre 10 Cup before joining Grenoble as a medical joker. He remained at the club for four seasons where he made 65 appearances.
He made his international debut for Tonga against Wales on 16 June 2017.
In March 2018 he extended his contract until June 2019.He later extended his contract for three more seasons at Grenoble.
Fifita started all of Tonga's matches at the Rugby World Cup in Japan in 2019 taking his test cap tally to 19.
In June 2021 he activated his departure clause early, leaving Grenoble and signing with Irish team Connacht. He made his debut for the club in September 2021
He made 9 appearences for Connacht over 2022 and 2023 scoring 2 tries for the Irish Club.
He has recently been included in the final training squad for Tonga before the Rugby World Cup 2023.
