Vai burst onto the sevens scene with a strong performance at the Red Bull Ignite7 in 2019.
A member of the winner Inferno team, Vai was selected to attend the All Blacks Sevens development camp and from there went on to sign a two-year contract with the All Blacks Sevens.
From good rugby pedigree, Vai’s father player for Samoa and older brother Melani Nanai played for the Blues and Auckland.
