A strong scrummager and a real workhorse loosehead prop Kane Hames attended Te Aute College & Trident High School in Whakatane.
He has represented Tasman and for the Māori All Blacks, having started his career with Bay of Plenty ahead of 2013 season's ITM Cup.
He played two seasons for the Highlanders in 2014 and 2015, before he joined the Chiefs as injury cover in 2016.
Hames made his debut for the All Blacks in 2016, coming off the bench in the first Test against Australia.
In July 2017, Hames signed a two-year extension with the Chiefs.
Hames was also included in the Maori All Blacks side and started the match against the British and Irish Lions.
He was recalled into the All Blacks squad ahead of the 2nd Bledisloe in 2017 and took his test cap tally to 6 by the end of the year.
Ahead of the 2018 Super Rugby season he has made 36 appearances in the competition and has scored 3 tries.
