Whilst representing the Cheetahs at age-group level, Cook was selected for the South African Schools team in 2009 and the SA U20 team in 2011. 2012 saw a move to the Bulls where the flanker made his Currie Cup debut and graduated to the Bulls Super Rugby team in 2013.
He returned to the Cheetahs for the 2014 Super Rugby season and was included in the Cheetahs squad for the 2014 season, making his debut in a 21–20 defeat to the Lions in Bloemfontein.
