Potgieter made the move from the EP Kings to the Bulls in 2011 and his career has simply taken off at Loftus Versveld.
He provides an intense physical presence at blindside flank where his committed style sees him fly at the opposition whether carrying the ball or launching a tackle. Made his Test debut against England in 2012 under coach Heyneke Meyer.
In 2014 he made the move to the Waratahs for 2 season where he won the Super Rugby title in his first season. Potgieter moved back to south Africa for the 2016 season and beyond after signing a contract with the Durban based Sharks.
The Bulls announced in May 2016 that they have signed a two-year contract with Potgieter.
He has scored 35 points in 56 Super Rugby appearances since his debut in 2012. In June 2018 after a long lay off he announced signing for Toulon on a 2 year deal
