Born in Werribee, Victoria, Abel studied at St Edmunds College and broke through the NRC with the Canberra Vikings in 2018.
The following year he signed for rivals Sydney Rays, making 4 appearances for the side before being named in the Western Force squad for the Global Rapid Rugby competition in 2020.
