A well-travelled South African second-rower, Hendrik Roodt is built in the classic mould of a South African lock with his physical nature at the forefront of his game.
He shone from his school days representing the Leopards at U18s, it was his 2005 South African Schools selection that caught the Bulls attention.
Signing in 2006, Roodt became an age-group and Vodacom Cup star for the Bulls. Looking for a culture change, Roodt left for as short stint with the Waratahs in late 2009 and made his Super Rugby debut against the Stormers. Returning to Griquas for Currie Cup action in 2010, Hendrik then linked up with the Cheetahs for their 2011 Super Rugby campaign, with performances there helping him secure a 2-year deal with the Lions. After finishing the 2013 Currie Cup, the big second-rower signed with French Top 14 outfit Grenoble.
After three seasons at the club, Roodt made the switch to Lyon for the 2017-18 season.
By the end of the 2018/19 Champions Cup season, Roodt had accumulated 14 Champions Cup caps.
