Enrique Pieretto became the latest in a proud line of Argentinians to link up with Glasgow Warriors in 2020, agreeing to join the Scotstoun side from Exeter Chiefs.
Prior to linking up with the English outfit, the tight-head had enjoyed a successful spell with Super Rugby’s Jaguares in his native Argentina.
Pieretto feature 17 times for the franchise on their run to the 2019 Super Rugby final, with only New Zealand heavyweights Crusaders denying them an historic title.
Part of Argentina’s 2019 Rugby World Cup squad, Pieretto featured in the Pumas’ pool stage victory over USA in Kumagaya as part of a renowned scrummaging unit.
He was also selected for the world’s most famous invitational side in November 2019, representing the Barbarians against Fiji at Twickenham.
Nicknamed Kike, the prop has also represented his country at U19 and U20 level.
A powerful Argentine tighthead Enrique Pieretto represented Argentina at youth levels and was called up to the senior side for the 2016 Americas Rugby Championship in January 2016. He was called up to the senior squad for their 2-test series against France and a test against Italy, while also being part of the 2016 Rugby Championship.
After 8 appearances in each of the 2016 and 2017 Super Rugby campaigns, Pieretto missed the 2018 season entirely due to injury. He rebounded by playing 17 games for the Jaguares during the 2019 Super Rugby season, though again only 4 were starts. Pieretto was sent off and suspended in 2016 while playing against England for a stamp on Joe Marler.
Enrique Pieretto featured for Argentina at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan and took his test cap tally to 24, starting just 4 times. After the World Cup he linked up with the Barbarians before signing with Exeter Chiefs until the end of the 2019/20 season with the club experiencing an injury crisis in the front row.
Following his stint with Exeter Chiefs, he made the switch to Glasgow Warriors.
