Cherry secured his first professional contract with London Scottish. His exploits on the field for Currie put him on the Radar and the former Scottish u19 captain signed for London Scottish ahead of the 2014/15 season.
Edinburgh picked up the hooker in 2018 and he impressed in the Pro 14, so much so that it earned him a Scotland call up ahead of the 2019 6 Nations.
After 22 appearances for Edinburgh, Cherry signed a new undisclosed deal with the side in February 2020.
Cherry has been selected to play for Scotland ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023.
