Blues signed Welsh-qualified Aussie second row BJ Edwards from Bristol on a short-term loan deal.
Edwards joined Bristol on an initial trial period in July 2016, coming on board from Sydney club Eastern Suburbs, having previously represented Queensland County.
The 21-year-old has been brought in to provide cover because of injuries to Josh Turnbull and Seb Davies, as well as the suspension of George Earle.
A physical, athletic 6ft 4ins forward, was brought into Cardiff Blues as injury cover after a second row crisis at the Arms Park.
After the 2016/17 season, Edwards left Bristol for fellow Championship side Hartpury College.
