In 2004, he was invited to tour Argentina with the Waratahs, and made his provincial debut in a 51-22 win against local side Salta. He went on to play every minute of every game in the 2005 U21 World Championships in Argentina.
Benn made his Waratahs debut in 2006 as a replacement against the Reds. His impressive form in his debut season saw him fast-tracked to national honours, debuting in the Tri-Nations tournament against South Africa in Johannesburg the same year. He has gone on to become a mainstay in the Wallabies squad, and one of the premiere looseheads in international rugby, having received 45 test caps between 2006 and 2012.
He received a devastating blow in 2011, when he was ruled out of the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand with a season-ending knee injury.
In June 2016, Robinson announced his retirement from professional rugby following an eye injury.
