Birkenhead-born 20-year-old Archie McParland started rugby at Ruthin RFC aged 5 and
continued with Mold RFC. He studied at Stowe School alongside former U20 teammate Henry
Pollock and won the 2024 U20 Six Nations with Pollock.
Looking up to the likes of Aaron Smith and Antoine Dupont, McParland became Northampton
Saints' youngest player in the professional era (at 17 years and 222 days old) vs. London Irish
in the Premiership Rugby Cup back in 2022. He joined Saints' academy aged 13 and was
originally a fly-half that switched to 9 in his U15s season. He cites current England pathway
coach and former Saints Academy lead Will Parkin as his most influential coach.
McParland has since amassed an impressive 30 senior appearances for Saints whilst also
gaining valuable loan experience with Bedford Blues. His achievements to date also include a
senior England A cap vs. Australia A last autumn at the Twickenham Stoop
