The Swindon native has established himself as a fans favourite at London Wasps over the course of his lengthy career. A dynamic loosehead, Payne joined the London club in 2003 having had brief spells at both Bristol and Cardiff Blues. Payne was first called into the English national squad in the summer of 2004 after being part of Wasps' Heineken Cup final win. Payne was also a late call up into the 2009 British and Irish Lions squad as injury cover.
