Gonzalo Tiesi, born on April 24, 1985, in Buenos Aires, is a retired Argentine rugby union player. He primarily played as a centre and represented several clubs throughout his career, including London Irish, Harlequins, Stade Français, London Welsh, and Newcastle Falcons. Tiesi also had a successful international career, earning 32 caps for the Argentina national team, known as Los Pumas.
Tiesi started his rugby journey with the San Isidro Club in Buenos Aires before signing with London Irish. He also represented Argentina Sevens at the IRB Sevens event in Los Angeles and played for Buenos Aires Rugby Union. He had previous experience representing Argentina at the under-21 and under-19 levels.
One of Tiesi's career highlights was being part of the Argentine squad for the 2007 Rugby World Cup, where the team achieved their highest-ever finish, securing third place. He also represented Argentina in the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.
After his stints in France, Tiesi returned to Argentina and rejoined the San Isidro Club at the end of the 2011-12 season. However, in January 2013, he signed with London Welsh. He later joined Newcastle Falcons in the Aviva Premiership in November 2013.
Tiesi made his debut for Los Pumas at the age of 19 against South Africa and was quickly picked up by London Irish. He spent two years with Harlequins before moving to Stade Francais in 2010. Unfortunately, injuries hampered his 2011 campaign, but he eventually recovered and joined Newcastle Falcons for the 2013 season.
Tiesi retired from professional rugby on July 19, 2016, with 37 test caps to his name. Throughout his career, he showcased his skills and contributed to the success of the teams he represented.
