Felix Jones

5th Aug 1987 1.85m/90kg Coach

In Felix Jones, Munster possessed one of the nation’s most naturally talented players.

Pace, passing, ball fielding and elusive broken field running are all attributes Jones has in abundance. Jones, who won the 2007 under 20 Grand Slam with Ireland, made his Leinster debut in 2008, due to injury would only play once for the Dublin based province.

Jones’ showcased his talents in Ireland’s 2009 Churchill Cup victory, particularly as he tortured England ‘s defence in the final. Unfortunately, for Ireland and Munster, Jones sustained a serious neck injury against Connacht just seven games into his Munster career.

The injury would keep Jones’ out for the best part of a year. Only three games after Jones’ comeback from injury in September 2010, injury struck again, this time it was his knee and he was ruled out until March 2011.

Jones’ began to impress once more and for Munster and was duly selected for Ireland’s pre World Cup squad but, alas, in a game against France injury struck again, meaning he missed the 2011 World Cup and the 2012 6 Nations. Unfortunately, Jones was forced into an early retirement due to a neck injury sustained against Glasgow in October 2015.

Jones was named on the Ireland coaching ticket for the summer tour to USA & Japan. In June 2017, Jones signed a two-year contract extension with Munster.

May 2019 saw Jones refuse a contract extension with Munster, leaving the club at the end of the 2018/19 season.

In August, Jones joined the Springboks as a defence consultant for the period of the Rugby World Cup.
