Front rower Danie Mienie rose through the youth system at the Sharks and made his way into the Sharks XV side in 2012 and made his debut against the Border Bulldogs.
He later became a regular member of the Sharks Vodacom Cup side, before he was called into the Sharks Super Rugby squad following the injury to Tendai Mtawarira in 2013.
In 2015 he signed a one-year deal with the Kimberley-based side the Griquas.
Having impressed with the Griquas he was offered a deal with the Cheetahs ahead of the 2016 Super Rugby season.
Ahead of the 2017 Super Rugby season Mienie has 18 Super Rugby caps to his name.
In June 2017, Mienie signed for Toulouse as a medical Joker to replace the injured Cyril Baille.
He went on to make 15 appearances for the side before signing a deal with the Lions in Super Rugby.
