Alexandru Savin was born and raised in Focșani, Romania
He started playing at the age of fifteen after he previously competing at handball. Some school professors (Valentin Busuioc and Romeo Paun) suggested he started to play with the oval ball, and he has never looked back since
His first senior outing was for in the SuperLiga for CSM Bucuresti, where he stayed for three seasons, developing as a first-choice prop for the top team (2016-2019)
His first cap for Romania came in on the 17th November 2018, earning half-hour against the USA.
In November 2018, Savin was called for Romania's national team, the Oaks, being part of the 34 man squad assembled in preparation for a match against the Os Lobos held for the Relegation/Promotion Play-Off of the 2018 Rugby Europe Championship
He was voted one of the best players of the 2023 Men’s Rugby Europe Championship and selected for the best team of the coveted European competition.
Ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023, Alexandru Savin has been named in the squad for Romania.
