Educated at Boland Landbou, Buckle represented Western Province in the junior ranks and Stellenbosch University before moving to Griquas in 2007.
Playing both sides of the scrum for four seasons in Kimberley, the powerful front ranker signed for Bourgoin in 2010 and has become well known in the Top 14 where he has represented Castres, Biarritz and now Grenoble.
Buckle made the switch to Lyon for the 2015-16 campaign after leaving Grenoble. In only his second term at the club, Buckle enjoyed a prolonged spell in the Lyon front-row during the 2016-17 season.
He made 22 appeances in the TOP14 last season with a further two more caps coming in the Challenge Cup.
As of the 2018/2019 Champions Cup, Buckle has had 10 European cups appearances scoring 1 try and 5 points.
