Andrew Walker was born in Nowra, NSW, on November 22, 1973. He was the youngest of 13 children and had six older brothers. He represented Australia in Rugby League and Rugby Union.
He quickly progressed through school and club rugby and at 17 joined Randwick in Sydney and played in the 1991 Grand Final. During this period he was selected for the Australia Under 21 team.
He left Randwick for Rugby League and had three years with the St George Dragons, five with the Sydney Roosters and one season with Manly. He then changed rugby codes again and played four years as a wing and fullback with the Super 12 Brumbies.
In Super 12 he held the record for the most tries in one season, thirteen tries in the 2000 season and included two hat-tricks. After taking a two-year break he took his family to France in 2006 and played 18 games of professional rugby for Gaillac.
Walker became Australia's 40th dual code international when he made his Wallaby debut against New Zealand in July 2000. He Andrew played eight Wallaby Tests including three games against the Lions and in the Tri- Nations and Bledisloe Cup series between 2000-2002.
Early in the 2007 Super 14 season, he joined the Reds as a wing, fullback and kicker.
On 26 July 2008, Andrew Walker announced his retirement from all forms of rugby. At the time he was playing for the Easts Tigers in the QLD Cup competition. At 35 Years old at the time, Walker retired, stating fatigue and a need to spend more time with his family who supported him through his successful career.
