Walker was educated at Musselburgh Grammar School and North Berwick High School, and has played club rugby for both Musselburgh and Currie.
His Scotland representative honours came with the under-18, under-19 and under-20 squads. Walker, who regularly benched for Edinburgh in the second half of season 2010/11 and duly made his debut, studied a degree course in Sports and Exercise Science at Heriot- Watt University.
Walker responded to the challenge of the Greene King IPA Championship and British and Irish Cup by making 17 appearances and scoring five tries in the 2015-16 season for Ealing Trailfinders.
In the following season, Walker cemented his place as first choice hooker, and amassed an impressive 8 tries from 20 appearances.
Following three seasons at Trailfinders, Walker signed a new deal in March 2020 that would see him remain with the club for a further two seasons.
