La Rochelle have reached the quarter-final stage of the Heineken Champions Cup for the second time, they have never progressed further than this in the competition

La Rochelle take an 18-16 lead over the Sale Sharks into halftime. Two penalties apiece saw the sides deadlocked at 6-6 after 27 minutes of play. La Rochelle then ran in the game's first try around the half hour mark, with Sale adding a penalty shortly after to trail 11-9. A second La Rochelle try followed as the hosts opened up a 9 point lead, but Sale crossed for their first try with the final play of the half to trail by two points at the break.
