Italy take a 17-14 lead over England into halftime. Italy kicked an early penalty and ran in a try to open up a 10-0 lead. England got on the board with a penalty and a try midway through the half saw them reduce the deficit to two points. Italy crossed for try number two, but England kept the scoreboard ticking over, slotting two penalties to trail by just three points at the break.
