The Lions take a 24-10 lead over Western Province into halftime. Two early tries saw the Lions up 10-0 after the opening 15 minutes. WP hit back with a try midway through the half, but a third Lions score followed five minutes later to make it 17-7. WP pulled three points back with a penalty, but picked up a yellow card just before halftime which saw the Lions cross for try number four to take a 14 point advantage into the break.
