The Bulls take an 18-12 lead over the Lions into halftime. The Bulls started strongly, crossing for two early tries to build a 12-0 lead. The Bulls then picked up a red card for a shoulder charge making contact to the head. The Lions capitalized on their numerical advantage with a penalty try from a scrum and a second try to level the scores at 12-12. However, the Bulls would keep the scoreboard ticking over with two late penalties giving them a six point advantage at the break.
