The Exeter Chiefs take a 26-20 lead over Lyon into halftime. Lyon got off to a blistering start, with two tries inside the opening ten minutes to open up a 14-0 lead. Exeter hit back with a try, but a Lyon penalty followed to make it 17-5. Exeter showed their class with two tries just a few minutes apart to hit the front 19-17 around the half hour mark. Lyon edged ahead with a penalty, but a late first half Exeter try sees the defending champions up by six points at the break.
