The Brumbies will travel to Fiji in their opening Super Rugby Pacific match

ACT Brumbies forward Tom Hooper and the side are embracing their long-awaited first game in Fiji in preparation for a tough match against the Drua.

Incredibly, Saturday's fixture in Suva will be the Brumbies' first in Fiji in Super Rugby Pacific, one of the last teams to make the trip to the island.

In addition, it's the first time the Drua have been given a home game in Fiji in their short history, beginning their season in Auckland the past two years.

With no Super Round this year, this will be the first time in February that the Drua will host a Super Rugby game in Fiji, leaving the Brumbies to prepare for humid and potentially stormy conditions.

"We've kind of got away three years now in a row without even going over there. So, it's probably our turn to have a crack over there," Hooper told reporters.

"We're really excited to take that challenge on. Obviously, you've seen they've only lost one game from each seasonbut they've been in the competition at home.

"For us to go over there and really put our stamp on the competition, it's exciting."

Hooper was prepared for the Drua 'magic' that is only amplified at home. The team is looking to become the first Australian team to win in Fiji in Super Rugby history.

"They've got a good crowd and a good atmosphere, and then from there, the boys just play really good footy.

"They're magicians with the ball. Honestly, I think a lot of them are born and then thrown a rugby ball, and all of them catch it as a baby.

"It's just one of those things that they've got that God-given gift, and some of the offloads that they pull off, you've really got to make sure your defensive line is intact if you're going to take them on."

The Brumbies are dealing with injuries to Rob Valetini (hamstring) and David Feliuai (finger), who will be given every chance to prove their fitness before the side travels over on Wednesday.

"They're both tracking well...They're both really tough buggers. So, I'm sure they'll be back in no time," Hooper added.
