SA take a 10-3 lead over NZ into halftime. SA got off to a strong start and opened the scoring with a try eight minutes in to lead 7-0. SA increased the lead to ten with a penalty after 22 minutes, with NZ getting on the board with a shot at goal five minutes from halftime to trail by seven points at the break.
