Montpellier take a 24-10 lead over Gloucester into halftime. Montpellier opened the scoring with a penalty and then crossed for the games first try to lead 10-0 around the midway point of the half. Gloucester got on the board with a penalty, but Montpellier hit back with their second try to make it 17-3. Gloucester responded with a much needed first try, but Montpellier would end the half with a third score to take a 14 point advantage into the break.
