Griquas take a 24-17 lead over the Cheetahs into halftime. Griquas opened the scoring with an early try, but the Cheetahs hit back with two quick tries to lead 14-7. Then it was Griquas turn as they crossed for two tries in quick succession and slotted a penalty to lead 24-14. A penalty with the last act of the half for the Cheetahs reduced to the deficit to seven points at the break.
