Ireland take a 17-10 lead over France into halftime. Ireland opened the scoring with an early penalty to lead 3-0. France then picked up a yellow card and Ireland capitalized with the first try to make it 10-0. Ireland then missed a shot at goal, with France getting on the board with a penalty shortly after. Ireland ran in try number two around the half hour mark and it went from bad to worse for France, as they then picked up a red card. However, France hit back with a score with the final play of the half to trail by just seven points at the break.

France got away with soft penalties leading up to try.
