Munster take a 10-3 lead over Connacht into halftime. Connacht missed an early opportunity to put points on the board as their penalty attempt just three minutes in went wide. Connacht then picked up a yellow card after 10 minutes of play, with the resulting Munster penalty making it 3-0. Around the midpoint of the half Munster crossed for the opening try to extend their lead out to 10-0. Connacht would have to wait until the final play of the half to get on the board, with a penalty seeing them trail by seven points at the break.
