The Crusaders take a 15-10 lead over the Chiefs into halftime. The Crusaders opened the scoring with an early penalty, with the Chiefs picking up a yellow card shortly after. Despite being a player down, the Chiefs leveled things up with a shot at goal. The Chiefs then ran in the first try of the match to lead 10-3. Another yellow card for the Chiefs saw the Crusaders capitalize immediately with a score to trail 10-8. The Chiefs then missed a penalty attempt, with the Crusaders crossing for a second try which sees them up by five points at the break.
