Arg take a 15-14 lead over Japan into halftime. Arg got off to the perfect start with a try a minute in to lead 7-0. Japan hit back with a try to level matters at seven apiece. Japan then picked up a yellow card and Arg capitalized with a try and they added a penalty to open up a 15-7 lead. However, Japan hit back with a try just before halftime to trail by just a single point at the break.
