Ireland take a 21-3 lead over Italy into halftime. Italy got off to an ideal start, opening the scoring with a penalty just two minutes in. Ireland hit back with the games first try ten minutes later to lead 7-3. Italy picked up a yellow card just before the half hour mark and Ireland capitalized immediately with a score to make it 14-3. Ireland ran in a late third try to take a comfortable 18 point advantage into the break.
