Ireland Six Nations Squad | Winners & Losers
- 386
Simon Easterby has named his first Six Nations Squad ahead of the 2025 tournament. Here is a look at our winners and losers.
Winners:
Sheehan and Lowe:
Both of these players have missed significant amounts of rugby recently with James Lowe last playing in November and Dan Sheehan last playing against the Springboks in July 2024.
Jack Boyle:
Boyle is the only uncapped player named in the squad. The loosehead prop is 22 years old and plays for Leinster.
Caolin Blade:
Blade finds his way back into the Ireland squad replacing Craig Casey who misses out due to injury. Blade made his debut in 2021.
Losers:
Thomas Ahern:
Ahern looked to be an easy pick for Easterby but has been overlooked. Ahern has played almost all of Munsters games this season and is in fine form
Jude Poatlethwaite:
The Ulster midfielder, capable of playing 12 & 13, is having a stellar season scoring three tries, beating 16 defenders and two try assists
