World Cup winning hooker Steve Thompson made his Lions debut against Argentina in 2005.

Following that pre-Tour Test, Thompson would go on to make five appearances in New Zealand, including earning two Test caps.

He earned 73 England caps between 2002 and 2011, making his debut in a victory over Scotland.

In addition to winning the World Cup, he was a key member of Sir Clive Woodward’s Grand Slam winning team in 2003, in which he scored the first of four international tries in a match against Italy.

He made 195 appearances for Northampton Saints before further spells with Brive and Leeds Carnegie.
