Kenny was born in London in 1996 but moved to Ferbane, Co Offaly where he started playing hurling and found rugby with the West Offaly Lions. He then moved to Buccaneers RFC where he developed his game further and found his way into the Conancht Rugby setup. In 2015 Kenny also won the Connacht Schools Senior Cup with Garbally College
He had been in the front-row, starting at loosehead but moved to tighthead when he was picked by Connacht at U-18s level.
In May 2016, Kenny was announced part of the Ireland U20 Squad for World Rugby Championship.
He made his senior competitive debut for Connacht as a replacement in their 20–10 away win against Welsh side Ospreys in round 5 of the 2019–20 Pro14 on 2 November 2019.
After 5 appearances in the Connacht senior side, Kenny signed a new one-year extension to keep him at the Sportsground until at least the end of the 2020/21 season.
As of June 2020, he has made 6 appearances for the Irish province.
