Zach Mercer heads for France

Bath and England number 8 Zach Mercer has confirmed that he will be packing his bags and heading to France at the conclusion of his current contract with the English club.

Mercer has been a part of the Bath set-up since 2016 and boasts 56 caps. His efforts in 2018 were rewarded with two England caps.

Comfortable at either flank or number 8, Mercer has garnered a reputation as a courageous and creative player who would no doubt be an asset to any team.

Rumours of a move to the French club have been circulating for months already but finality was brought to the situation when Montpellier owner Mohed Altrad recently confirmed to the Daily Mail that “Zach has signed”.

It was, no doubt, a big decision for the 23 year-old who now puts himself out of the running for national selection while he continues his career abroad.
