Augustine Pulu suspended for two weeks for dangerous tackle

Counties Manukau halfback Augustine Pulu has been suspended for two weeks after receiving a red card for a dangerous tackle in his team’s Mitre 10 Cup match against Manawatu on Thursday 5 October.

The suspension includes all rugby and means he will miss Counties Manukau’s final round robin match against Tasman (14 October) and any matches he is scheduled to play in up to and including 21 October.

James Cronin returns to full training from the knee niggle he sustained against Ospreys, as does academy lock Sean O’Connor having recovered from the neck injury he sustained against Glasgow.  Jean Kleyn who also sustained a neck injury at Scotstoun continues to be managed by the medical team.


Shane McDermott calls time on First Class Referee Career

Referee Shane McDermott during the round five Mitre 10 Cup match between Auckland and Counties Manukau this year.

After 12 years refereeing first-class rugby games, Shane McDermott willblow his final whistle this Sunday at the North Harbour v Taranaki 2017 Mitre 10 Cup.

McDermott made his international debut in 2014 controlling the New Zealand Schools v Australia Schools test match in Porirua.  His final game will bring the curtain down on a stellar 1st class career including over 80 first class matches.
