The Queensland Reds claimed the Bob Templeton Cup with a 20-16 away win over the NSW Waratahs in round 2 of Super Rugby Pacific.
The Reds opened the scoring with an early penalty, with the Waratahs having a chance to reply immediately, but their shot at goal went wide.
The Reds then scored the game's first try midway through the first half to open up a 10-0 lead. The Waratahs hit back with a try five minutes later to reduce the deficit to three points.
The Waratahs levelled matters with a penalty just before halftime as the sides headed into the break deadlocked at 10-10.
The Reds edged ahead with a penalty seven minutes into the second half, but the Waratahs were soon level again after a shot at goal shortly after.
Just after the hour mark a successful drop goal put the Waratahs up 16-13.
The Reds struck back with a try with a little over ten minutes to play to lead 20-16. The Waratahs threw everything they had at the Reds in the closing stages, but the visitors would hold on for the victory over their fierce rivals.
