Vilikesa Sel signs contract extension with Bath

Vilikesa Sel signs contract extension with Bath

A product of Royal Wootton Bassett RFC, the 19-year-old signed his first Academy contract with the club ahead of 2023/24.

Committing his future to Bath Rugby, the tighthead has agreed a contract extension to remain in the hoops of the Blue, Black and White.

Sela, who earned his official Bath Rugby debut earlier this season against Leicester Tigers in the Gallagher Premiership, has earned international recognition with England U20 after climbing through England’s age grades.

Having started his rugby in the back row, Sela’s size and power saw him moved into the front row to pack down at tighthead.

The young prop has become one to watch due to a stellar start to his professional career, demonstrating his agility and ball-carrying ability.

Of securing Sela’s future at Bath, Head of Rugby, Johann van Graan, said: “Vilikesa made his Premiership debut earlier this season and I am delighted that he will be playing for Bath Rugby in the future.

Since his arrival at the club, it was evident to me that he has got some special talents. The impressive thing about Vilikesa is his mental toughness and willingness to work hard.

Committing his future to the club, Sela commented: “I’m proud to be staying here at Bath. Coming up through the ranks of the academy and growing up close by, I’m glad to call Bath home.

“I have a great group of people around me at the club and I’m excited to be a part of the journey.”
