Toulouse put an end to Ulster's impressive 25 home match win streak with a 29-22 victory in the opening round of the Champions Cup. Ulster started strongly with a try 13 minutes in to lead 7-0. The following restart from Toulouse went straight out on the full, with Ulster scoring a try from the resulting scrum to extend their advantage out to 12-0. Toulouse hit back immediately with a try to get on the board around the midpoint of the first half. Toulouse would have the final say of the half, as a try with the final play saw them take a slender 14-12 lead into the break. Ulster slotted an early second half penalty to edge ahead 15-12, but missed a second shot at goal shortly after. Toulouse reclaimed the lead with their third try 52 minutes in making it 21-15. Five minutes later Ulster had their third try to hit the front by a single point at 22-21 heading into the final quarter. The sea-saw battle continued asToulouse crossed for their fourth and bonus point try with 15 minutes remaining to lead 26-22. Toulouse were reduced to14 players after picking up a yellow card with around ten minutes to play, but despite their numerical disadvantage would slot a late penalty to seal the bonus point away win.
