Matt Proudfoot joins Springbok coaching staff
The former assistant coach of the Stormers has signed a four year contract with SA Rugby to be an additional assistant of Springbok coach Allister Coetzee, after his Japanese club agreed to release him from his contract.
The 44-year-old's term with the Springboks starts immediately.
Cross retires from professional rugby
Former Scotland international Geoff Cross has today announced his retirement from professional rugby following 13 seasons in the game.
Commenting on his decision to call time on his playing career, Cross, who is a qualified Doctor, said: “I have enjoyed my time at London Irish, but I feel the time is now right to move my attention towards returning to medicine which I intend to achieve by next summer."
Belisario Agulla extends his Newcastle Falcons stay
Argentinean back-line player Belisario Agulla has extended his stay at Newcastle Falcons by signing a permanent deal with the club.
Agulla said: “I am very happy to be staying in Newcastle with the Falcons.
“This squad is very united and I have been made to feel very welcome since I got here. I share the ambitions of everyone here in wanting to get better for next season and I think we will definitely do that.”
He is the latest in a line of players renewing terms with the Falcons, including the season’s top try-scorer Nili Latu, prop Rob Vickers, scrum-half Sonatane Takulua and fly-half Craig Willis.
