An action packed Saturday of Champions Cup rugby. We have managed to select 5 players that we believe stood out for their performances.
Here are our Top 5 performers:
Tim Swinson
Highly influential in Glasgow's thrashing of Leicester Tigers. Hugely physical around the park, both in attack and defence as well as consistently disrupting the Leicester line-out. Particularly shone in offence, as Glasgow's top ball carrier with 21 carries.
Thoroughly deserved of his late try, picking up his second MOTM in two weeks!
Rémi Lamerat
Hugely impressive performance in Clermont's commanding victory over Exeter. Despite not getting on the scoresheet, the outside centre caused major problems for the Exeter defence all afternoon.
Highly clinical in offence, making 77m from 3 carries. Capped off his performance with a MOTM nomination.
Will Addison
The talisman in Sale's 2-point defeat of Scarlets at the AJ Bell. Whilst impressing in defence, the Addison really shone in his offensive efforts, making a whopping 118m from 8 carries.
His agility and electrifying pace was particularly prevalent in his brilliant solo effort from 50m out. Gave the commentators a very easy decision to nominating him as MOTM.
Jackson Wray
In what was the most highly anticipated game of the day, Jackson Wray really stood up to the big occasion. Carried a remarkable 18 times, making 83m in the process.
Additionally, did exceptionally well to keep opposite number, Duane Vermuelen, quiet all game, nevermind his defensive efforts in preventing Toulon from scoring a try. Really stepped up to the mark and will certainly make it difficult for Billy Vunipola to return to the starting line-up.
CJ Stander
Another heroic European performance for the Munster back-rower, Stander drove his team forward and led from the front. His bullish carries and physicality caused the Racing defence constant problems.
Stander collected his third MOTM award in the pool stages, a phenomenal feat. Making 18 carries for a gain of 57 metres and making 9 tackles for his team.
CJ was outstanding in the reverse fixture in Paris two weeks ago, his ball carrying provided Munster with fresh impetus when the game was in the balance in the first half. Without doubt, the form back-row on the continent.
