The Stade Pierre Fabre has become a bit of a stumbling block for Clermont and this game was no different as Castres claimed a 24-16 victory over the former league leaders. Armand Battle got the home side off to a fast start following Ben Urdapilleta's missed penalty. Argentine playmakers Ben Urdapilleta and Pato Fernandez then traded penalties before Martin Laveau increased Castres lead to 12 points in the 30th minute. Peceli Yato rampaged over the line from the back of the scrum to narrow Castres' lead to just 7 points at the break. Remy Grosso made it a two-point game soon after half time but Tim Nanai-Williams failed to add the extras to tie the game. Urdapilleta converted two penalties before Greig Laidlaw came on to slot a penalty and keep Clermont in the game with around 20 minutes left to play. The Scottish captain missed a crucial penalty in the 67th minute that would have made it a two-point game. Rory Kockett was successful with a penalty attempt in the 70th minute to secure the victory for Castres and saw leave the Stade Pierre Fabre without a single league point from the clash.
