Daniel du Plessis to make Stormers debut
Another string has been added to the bow of the legendary Du Plessis family with the selection of Daniel du Plessis to the Stormers team for Saturday’s Super Rugby derby against the Cheetahs at Newlands.
Du Plessis, son of former Springbok centre Michael du Plessis, joins his cousin, flyhalf Jean-Luc in the Stormers backline for the game against the Cheetahs.
John Smit resigns as CEO
The Sharks CEO has announced that he will resign at the end of the 2016 season. “This decision to resign was not an easy one and it is based primarily on me wanting to focus more of my time on my young family," said Smit, who led the Springboks to win the 2007 Rugby World Cup. The process leading to the appointment of a new CEO has begun.
Wasps center Ben Jacobs retires from rugby
"I have had a great time at Wasps and have made many lifelong friends. I feel like it is my home away from home and although I am sad to leave, I feel now is the right time," said the 34-year-old.
Jacobs will retire from professional rugby after a career spanning 14 years.
